God of Thunder
The god of thunder shouted out a curse upon the earth, And people cowered at his every word, As lightning flashed across the sky above the desert floor, Another crash of thunder could be heard. He didn't always act this way, it happened quite by chance, When one of them rejected what he said, For he beheld her beauty and he said she'd be his bride, When she refused, they feared they'd soon be dead. For she was fairest of them all, a woman of desire, And men from every tribe had wanted her, The god of thunder raised his voice and said she would be his, When she said "No", he made a mighty stir. He shook the mountains, split the sky as hail came raining down, And those below were feeling all his wrath, And he demanded that she come and be his loyal queen, And follow him along his royal path. But she was sworn to someone else, and vowed she would be true, Her heart was given to another man, The god of thunder was enraged and vowed he'd get revenge, And that is when his violence first began. But she was brave and took her stand, and wouldn't give an inch, Her love was something that would give her strength, And even though the earth was struck by lightning and with hail, She fought to keep this thunderous god at length. The god of thunder met his match in one that was so true, And though he didn't want to see defeat, He knew that he'd been beaten by a love that was so strong, And he would know the meaning of retreat. Now in the evening summer sky, they see a distant flash, The god of thunder makes his presence known, But it is not the terror that they knew in days gone by, It's more a simple whimper and a groan.
