Dreaming of the Dreamers
Gently the wind caresses her bare skin, Plays with her hair, whispers in her ears. Quietly she sits with hand cupping chin Remembering; long lost voices she hears. So many years now since she heard that song, She hears him whistling as if he were here, Head cocked to one side she focuses on Her daydreams, which take her to yesteryear. She sees them together, in her mind pictures Mum and Dad laughing hand in hand. Travels to a place where they were fixtures, When all seemed young, time appeared to stand Still. She took all around her for granted. The tune in her head grows louder, shrill. Deep in her thoughts it has been planted, She sits, lump in throat, tears threaten to spill. Then she remembers the fun and the laughter, The legacies from life that they have passed on, The strength of their love lasted long after They left, from her dreams they've never gone. Today, tomorrow and even forever, She thinks of her children, grandchildren too, Their inheritance will never be forgotten. ‘The beautiful dreamers’ must not fade from view.
