Parental Appearance
I've been noticing that parents care about their appearance. Sometimes more so than their children. I understand when they're trying to be protective, but we honestly don't care if someone looks at us weird. If someone sees me with a girl they'll think I'm gay. But if I'm with a guy, they'll think I'm in a relationship. I don't care. They can judge me all they want. They can look at me with that judgement stare and act like they're tearing me down... But in reality, this is who I am. You as a mother or father worrying about my appearance is slowly changing how I see myself. It's slowly changing the kind of trust or love you have for us. We love you, we really do, but it hurts when you try to change us. It hurts when you lie to protect us from the world. You can't keep us forever. We're growing up, and we're leaving soon, but if you want us to last in the real world... You need to let us figure out who we are, and not tell us who we are.
