Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required -Daily Poetry #5, February 2, 2017- Word: Feather I swear that I am dreaming, as I look out the balcony window on a snowy day, Another being stares at me from behind the glass door, Bright eyes and wings that are layered with such beautiful feathers of white. I'm in awe, I'm starstruck, as I look back at this being, I don't know what to say, Surely they aren't human as their wings flutter, and I don't know what they're here for, But all I know is that there isn't a word that can describe this sight. “I've been kicked out of heaven”, they admit with an embarrassed face, And being stern, I was close to telling them to leave, they're a stranger in my home! “Please! Please! I've nowhere to go! Let me stay, I'll do anything for you!” Unable to be cruel, I said yes to them, and I'm sure that's when fate tied the lace, “Thank you! Thank you!” They smile sweetly, and I feel my heart grow some. Now that I've fallen for a fallen angel, I don't know what to do. *** That was the past, and I must atone for the sin I've committed, For angels cannot fall for humans, it's something we omitted. But knowing that I'd never be happy without the human I fell for, I allow them to rip off my wings, because I won't need them anymore. ***** It's cold once again, as another winter comes around, And the streets are empty, there isn't a sound. I close my eyes, the lonely feeling taking over again, In my heart, I feel that familiar pain. As I look up, I see a surprise, A figure that is growing in size. A smiling face lands on the same place as before, And I knew then that we would be together forevermore. “I'd never be happy if we couldn't be together, So please love me, this bird of a different feather.”
