Bubbleskin
I watched a child blowing bubbles Reflective circles That unshackled themselves Through a single breath of life They rose upon an invisible force Ignoring gravity as non existent And I wondered what existence Would presume to exist Within them If I, Obviously gossamer thin Were Able to apply A mere pressure Gaining entry without dentistry Would I simply fly Up into the sky Marvelling at our World Flying rapidly by Would I You see I would be Within a new eternity The central focus Of A reflective whole Like a sentient ball bearing Unaware of my roll And what of light Now focused on me Ever so bright Thats not me thats bright Heaven forbid But the warming focus on me Might hurt quite a bit But let us say My world became a mirror Effervescent Splendour Getting constantly thinner What would I think Would I be aware Of how precarious I was Perched in the air Like an Earth Floating in space Have I changed to a metaphor Of Our Human race As time marches by Such a metaphor Where the crust is just dust Whilst bubble skin thins Juggling and Struggling Above next doors bins Cycling above the recycling Another token Little meaning If the bubble skin bursts Aye If the bubble skin bursts What matters it all If I struggle to fly I’ll surely die Thus my calamity In intellectual vanity Became an analogy For bubble skinned Humanity @Andrew Carnegie, Wiltshire, March 2016.
