Mutt
Into my lap, he has jumped without warning, ignoring a frown on my face I've put down my cup, and the trace of annoyance I've succumbed to this daily request His coat is soft as a downy white pillow and I watch as a fine thread is shed High into the air, it gleams against lamp light and it rises, then circles my head He is pleading with eyes for the exquisite fondle to exceed his allotted time He is warming my lap, and I feel his heart beating with adoration akin to mine I'm caught in a cloud of an exquisite silence Lost in reflection's caress What is this small connection I've grown to regard as part of the meaning of bliss? For one moment in time, I've forgotten our species no reminder of any lines crossed He is loved,... so am I, we are two on a mission Who am I, who had said, "I am not fond of lap-dogs" "I'm more drawn to the much larger kind" ? I must take back my words. I would miss the return of such love and affection the kind of connection that mends all the ills of the world _________________________________________________ Submitted for Skat's Contest: EASY
