What Distance
What Distance? The distance between them is folded up like a sheet of paper. That first kiss, her heart is his forever. He carries her bags to the guest bedroom. He leaves so she can dress for the wedding. It's a very simple white dress nothing extravagant. As soon as his daughter arrives she goes to help the bride with hair and makeup. He's still grieving for a lost daughter And she's never wanted a big wedding So they decide that Justice of the Peace can perform the ceremony. A few of his closest friends meet them at the Courthouse to greet the bride and witness the document. After the ceremony, they all go for a nice meal to celebrate. He can see that the length of the trip, and the activities of the day have taken their toll on her strength. So as soon as they can depart without causing hardships between friends, he takes her home. When they get back home they just fix a pot of tea and relax. He has hopes for tonight, but he doesn't expect. She keeps dropping off to sleep in the chair. So he helps her into her pajamas and put her to bed. She wakens in a couple of hours She always does, such is the schedule of Parkinson's sleep. When she realizes where she's at what he's done for her she takes her overdue meds and waits for them to kick in. All the while praying for God's blessing On this Union. When the meds have kicked in, She goes to him She lights the three candles that are on the bedside table. She wakes him up with a gentle kiss. His eyes hold a question "Are you sure?" She reassures him silently, With another kiss. When she feels his body respond She backs off ever so slightly. He misreads this only momentarily. When he realizes she's asking for the voice of experience to take the lead, he does so willingly. And the two become one Permanently.
