Zany Contest--I Shed Alligator Breath
That crab, his claws Snapped crack, crack, crack, While he stuttered, “That shell of mine, That swirly shell, I now want back back back.” So out, I stepped, Right from his shell And donned two skates To glide, glide, glide Upon the ocean, All thick mauve ice And, as I turned nice figure eights, A reptile boat tacked out to me: “You’re nude,” its gator captain wheezed With breath so fishy It made me sneeze “That crabby crab,” he hissed on, “His swirly shell He again took back?” So, “Yes, yes, yes!” I yelled, yelled, yelled And jumped high axels That drew applause Until that gator with putrid breath, Once more he shed his skin for me And while I napped He stole my skates And left me there to don his hide Then navigate green reptile boat, Into town I steered its bow And people fled while pinching noses: “From rancid breath please Save, save, save us!” November 28, 2016 Zany Poetry Contest Frank Herrera, Sponsor
