As I Slowly Flow
AS I SLOWLY FLOW By Roy Merritt Driving alone in my car watching the floating clouds And singing songs to myself singing right out loud No one can hear me as I sing the best I can Wishing I was like those clouds floating over land It would be so wonderful watching the earth below Watching man and beast as I slowly flow And my only worry is when I should dissipate Knowing that’s my only worry that to be my fate And how terrible could it be I might just turn to rain To fall to earth in drops quenching wood and plain And when the air is cold I might even turn to snow And drift with the wind as I slowly fall below I could bring joy I could perhaps inspire I might could save some lives I might put out a fire I might bring joy and well I might bring grief Is that not the fate of man that is my belief But better it would be to be that cloud within this whole equation Better it would be to be that cloud in the beauty of creation And even if I turn to water to fall to ground and run I know eventually like all below I will feel the sun And as it shines on me and my substance does wane It won’t but transform me not one bit of pain I will turn from my substance I will lose but form And float up toward the sky like Jesus be reborn And soon again my life be subject to the wind And as a cloud above I once again begin Up there I can sing again as I sing here down below Floating above the earth as I slowly flow Floating above the earth as I slowly flow As I slowly flow
