Red Light, Green Light Crow
Start With the common thread that ties this altogether but I Stop In my tracks when I have no idea what that means so I Start With the basics, wrack my brain for the information to feed my fingers The fuel to let loose the energy to produce these words but I Stop Once again because I don't have enough of them to finish this thought To finish this sentence so I say forget it and begin again Starting With this: The world keeps turning Yet sitting perched upon this table feels like the world is moving in slow motion Although I marvel at the notion that I can see it all like this, I'm the slowest one of all But then I pause, press erase Where's my backspace I can't work with this, I don't know what to say afterwards These aren't even the words I wish to proclaim Says me, at least subconsciously Do I fail to realize I had nothing to say to begin with I just felt the compulsion to keep my fingers busy, only to Stop These rampant, fire starting thoughts about a subject I leave to tightwads in cheap suits It's their titles, not mine Though before at age nine, I wanted well had the dream to be in the oval office A commander at the helm of an almighty vessel Change the world for the better Create a legacy, be known for something You know a small kid dreaming for giants Now I just drive farther and farther away from that division of injustice Injustice and justice, forgive me as I halt to laugh at the matter of the terms They're subjective, only subjective What use do they have when they ring out that a life for a life is justice No, no, no Seize my tongue and command it to stay mute STOP Cease and desist Speak no more a word I am an encyclopedia of opinion and need not to bare my fangs upon the masses of the world's functions The protesters are doing enough if that already Let me just enjoy the scenery before I foolishly say per words of Funeral for a Friend: Their revolution is a joke It's been predicted, done, etched in history Poking the bear never earns peace, just more turmoil Everyone is clamoring for unity while that divisive line keeps expanding Where do I stand, hopefully anonymous Ominously I called for a recount, for a redo I saw the outcome, I saw the fate but hoped, hoped for comfort I would be wrong Am I wrong No, no, no Seize my tongue and command it to stay mute STOP...Start I could but Start Where I've just been traveling down this dirt road of topic Trying not to hit any bumps Yet here I am on the side of the road Car in a pothole and I can only shrug my shoulders Walking in a direction I've never been, nor plan to Do you see the precipitation falling from the clouds, these thought bubbles Help me pop all these bottled up little things so they don't toxify me But allow me to modify their contents so you don't turn me into a villain by accident I don't crave war, I crave peace Though circumstances cause both options to be exhaustive So I'll wage war with my dreams as I make peace with my pillow Don't wake me up, not an order A small request I just want to sleep Ironically I pressed Start Because I wanted to begin, I wanted to say something Now I press Stop Finished, completed, done, end Because I've said nothing I'm just falling asleep where I sit
