When Will I
WHEN WILL I? When will I feel love again? I’m burning up inside… My heart consumed, there’s nothing Left except my pride. Yet with all this fire There’s a place that gets no light. I see people from the past And I recognize their faces Though they wear different masks. The wisdom that they give me Is both wondrous and sublime The teachings they offer Continue to transform my life In ways unimaginable. But when will I feel love again? All my words live then die Upon the lips of yesterday And this singer does not sing; All love’s lyrics are just a lie To fall on the un-hearing. There are many who would have me, At least, that’s what I’m told. Many more would lavish me With shiny silver and gold. Yet there’s only one who thrills me, Only one that I long to hold. She whispered that she loved me But now that love’s gone cold. So, when will I feel love again? It’s important that I know. This heart’s been damaged But it’s free to a good home. Despite all my misgivings I need passion in order to grow.
