Bantu the man Now lay helpless In a forceful recess, At the hands of the town mobs. It has become the talk of the town Of how Bantu was turned to a clown As he groaned like a pig From the blessing of cudgels That descended upon his head and body. What was Bantu’s crime? That the people wanted him out of town Could he have stolen the Olori’s gown- Or the Oba’s precious crown? We still do not know of his sin But that he was a man feared by the people And had boasted at the market place That not a bullet could pierce through his skin Bantu is not dead But his obituary is already in town.
