Dark Passage
I took a midnight journey through the darkest night. I started traveling before twilight. In the beginning I had no destination. As I progressed I learned through desperation. The shadows I passed kept calling my name. I didn't understand the nature of their game. The message they sent me seemed cruel and inhumane. They spoke about a journey on a sightless train. They said if I wanted to reach my goal. I'd have to release to them my soul. " That was too great a price. " I said. They replied, " Its too late, you're already dead. " As my screams echo through the darkness. My fate was clear with utter abruptness. The shadows reached out to take my hand. I withdrew and prepared for a stand. They told me not to fight or resist. It would be easier to relax and assist. My mind couldn't believe what my ears were hearing. From deep inside I could hear a cheering. Somewhere deep in my inner recesses, I was relieved there'd be no more guesses. My rage clenched fists began to relax. Thats when I saw the glint of the ax. With one final sound I heard the end. It made a sound just like the wind. The noise was the passage of my head. Leaving me forever doomed in the Halls of the Dead. Written on 9/30/16
