Spirit of the Hive
Spirit of the hive Translucent golden elixir Held up to flaming sun of day Nectar of the gods within The spirit of the hive comes to be Old wooden cases Through filtered morning light Peeling paint floats away slowly in the wind Lined up stacked in rows in peeling painted white Against the green of rolling hills Backdrops of old red barns Grey tin metal metal cans sit idle collect the morning dew As steam rises in puffs of clouds Against the moving hive The living collective of living hive In the interdependence of living life That makes the world we know Delicate bees leave their nest To make their journeys quest In amongst the wildflower A mosaic of pastel colors Moving in slow motion within Its quiet silence The honey bee does Its dance of life Between the light and Shadows of its stillness Landing on flower stamens To collect its pollen Which cling as they descend To make their journey home
