True Love Waits
True Love Waits The betrayal scarred me and altered my soul I depended on your love like the air Your actions back then left a gaping hole I curled up for weeks, a ball on the chair I was fooled, there was no such thing as love My trust for people was replaced by fear What you did, I'd never even dreamed of I've never lost someone so very dear I suffered with disbelief through to hate When I thought of you, my stomach would burn I couldn't sleep or eat and I lost weight All I could do is think of you and yearn I felt as though life wasn't worth living Farthest thing from my mind was forgiving And then we started to talk on the phone Many years went by before that occurred You'd had a hard time and were all alone My heart went out to you after I'd heard After a year of consistent phone calls Then finally we did come back together We never talked about the past at all Or about all the things we had weathered Grateful that we were together again We would spend all our time with each other Again on each other we could depend I sensed that I had finally recovered I'm so glad that we had those final days For it wasn't long and you passed away Sept 18, 2016
