Adrift
Stranded in the dead hush of still waters The laughing Otter swims by With that mischievous twinkle in his eye Saying "this is how you do it mate." Paddle or wait to die. Treading water for uncountable hours Muscles slowly failing Brain functioning sours But in the midst of deaths lingering kiss Memories circulate through final brainwaves Of loved ones dearly missed It brings a new surge of glimmering hope A determination to cope To truly believe Death cant win over me Nor the burning blue sea The brilliant smiling moon On the horizon of doom Gives way to mornings purple haze And thinking help will be here soon I see a towering mast rising looming large on painted horizon Making straight My position Moments before my body makes its final transition I breathe a long relieving sigh As i see my rescuers through tear soaked eyes I drift off to dream another day alive.
