Proud Moments
Proud Moments Proud moments are the ones, that you never ever expect, Like the sideways smile of an infant, as they lay upon your chest. The sound of little feet running, all through the house as you play, Hide and go seek, exhausted by the chase, soon fast asleep they lay. Before your eyes, they are growing up, two, three, four, then five, The school bus honk, they climb aboard, excitement fills their eyes. While waving good-by with a smile, so proud of your accomplishments, You turn around and thank God, for the blessings that he sent. Then as if in a dream, you look up and they are eighteen, As you think back, to the sounds, of their first whaling scream. Memories of Piggy back rides, band-aids on skinned knees, Love shown with hugs and kisses, medicine that aims to please. And now it’s time to send them off, to a world so foreign and new, But you can take solace in the fact; that their foundations was set by you!
