The Long Wait For the Unknown
They say, ‘’ true love waits’’ But they never said until when we should wait Should we wait till we are old and bent? Till we can longer feel When inside we hate and reel. Till when I beg to ask should we wait this wait? ‘’Wait on God ‘’ they said but they never taught me how They never taught me how to listen What to look for They didn’t tell me how God looked like Was He tall, was He short Did He love and laugh; was His face creased with frowns? And did he whisper or was he a boomer? So I wonder how do I wait on him? ‘’the best things come to those who wait,’’ they said But I wonder how did they know? Did they themselves wait? If so why did they become mothers at sixteen? Why do they go through life mumbling? Why there are their faces marred by frowns too? Was that their best or was it their lesson? And if that’s their best do I really want to wait? Sometimes I really feel like am waiting in vain Especially when the pain comes screaming Or when my heart is down and afraid I don’t want to wait in vain And I don’t want to feel any pain So if it comes am sorry but I won’t wait If it comes I’ll grab it with both hands Or will I? Let’s just wait and see.
