Thru Their Eyes
He holds me in his prison, Chained me to the wall. I can’t leave the room. When I try to leave I fall. My first reaction when I learn I am so trapped, my headache a terrible tick. 'Cause it is quite clear his intent; Revolver chamber, spin, click, click, click. I guess I should be thankful I am given a meal, quite cheap. I assume it is my last but I can't swallow, So, put it in the fridge, maybe it will keep. I fight within myself to hold on to my senses Refuse to let the circumstance cause me to weep. But this war inside is a grandious struggle Can't give up or I will end in an unwanted heap. My medication is wearing off now Increased stress, I see I'm shaking wildly. This will never do, I simply must keep fighting Can I have my next dose please, I ask mildly. Yes, I must keep fighting To triumph Over this criminal, This criminal disease. 8-13-16 Edits were assisted by VB, a respected fellow poet. When people think Parkinson's disease often they think of lack of balance and the tremor. There are other lesser-known symptoms though. These include but are not limited to: Depression Decline of mental function Difficulty or inability to swallow Greatly Disturbed sleep Bradykinesia (slow movements) Dyskinesia (jerking of the head and neck and limbs) Muscle rigidity Vision change Masked face (blank or non-expressive face) Vocal strength diminished (volume decreased) Vocal range diminished (increasingly difficult to speak/sing the higher pitches) Among others. I hope this poem helps to shed some light.
