To See You Soon
I have walked in the footsteps of the blind leading the blind; Lived my life through the pictures seen on billboards and the signs. I've woke on wintry mornings oh, so cold and all alone, Yet dreamt of fires a 'burning in some far off country home. I've sat and I have pondered 'bout the disappearing days; Of north and south, east and west, and our ever changing ways. I've bid farewell to many as the journeys came to end; Still I have thought about you, seems like every now and then. The roads ahead are rocky and the mountains they are wide; I've heard the fields are greener somewhere on the other side. The past still comes to haunt me through the memories of youth, Been searching for salvation on the page emptied of truth. I'd been watching the ages that fly by so very fast, And looking back in wonder saw those times not meant to last. The years were never counted 'till the hour had grown late; I'll soon wake on the 'morrow, standing face to face with fate. Perhaps we'll meet in passing on a far off distant shore, And share in lives of others whom have been here long before. We'll face into the sunset as the last ship sets to sail, Then hand in hand go walking down that never ending trail.
