Alive
Friends believed she was dead. The doctors worked frantically. No sign of why her heart just stopped. The last thing she had said before she collapsed: "I wish I was dead." Seems that her wish was granted Cause doctors still have no cure. What most ailed her has always been A crushed and broken spirit. But in that moment That singular moment When one must decide Exhale their last breath or Fight to stay alive As if through a fog she saw A vision of a strong young man Whose love might help heal her heart. But in His wisdom, God kept the face Concealed behind the shield. When this man finally spoke Words were in foreign tongue. A language she had never studied, But every word was clearly understood. "Please be strong, put up your best fight, Today is not your turn. I swear that if you return with me, God's love I'll help you learn." "A life of despair was never What any wished for you. God, more than any, wants you to find cheer. I know 'cause when He sent me here He said: 'She's rather impulsive, You'll have your hands quite full. But the ache in both your hearts Will rapidly be expelled. She tries to speak, but no sound is heard. No air is pushed through her vocal chords. She tries again and again, She tried so many times. She is sure Every ounce of her strength is spent. Everyone in the room is oblivious to her effort. She vows to try just one more time. She sits up and opens her mouth. The only thing she is able to utter is SONG. The words she sings are effortless. Air again inhabits her lungs. Instinctively the words are known by all, By young and old alike, Though the song has never been Sung by anyone before. All nations join at the chorus. Doctors and nurses both know They have just witnessed a miracle. One left for dead has just Sat up leading the world's choir. They sing: "Peace and Joy can be had by all If only all will choose love." "Just wait", she said "Greater joy there is in store" Her eyes search the room, but, None possess quite the same physique As the one who told her in vision that They could be, would be happy. Then footsteps down the hall are heard Lightly first, almost as if they fly. But as they near both speed and volume increase. It's quite clear now, they are sprinting. He charges in and is immediately at her side. A tip of his hat, a silent thanks For the efforts of all inside "He is the answer to all my dreams." Then as they embrace Their hands clasped together and Their voices sing in harmony A very gracious prayer.
