She ushers me inside and I sit on an absurd old chair, The chair keeps wanting to fall over - I have to take care; Oh dear, who was the engineer of this lopsided thing I sit on, When I move this way or that, it emits an odd, creaking song. I do have to appreciate the lovely purple iris on the kitchen table, And grannie makes an excellent cup of tea and cookies made of maple; I was genial in my praise and think she is quite admirable - she has flare, Don't know an iota about tea but grannie tells me her brand is quite costly. I help her get the dishes in order, then she says. . . .
