The Picture and the Song
Jesus loves me this I know If you read the Bible Old testament and new All the stories point to Jesus Test it, challenge it Seek and ye shall find tis true For the Bible tells me so I met Jesus as a little girl Seeing a picture of Jesus knocking at a door asking to come in the door to my heart For me, it is where Jesus and I begin Little ones to Him belong My mom faithfully took us to church I sang in the choir I thought I was pretty good As life went on I discovered my heart was deceitful and I was a liar We are weak No not the kind of lies to deceive my brother It was a lie to myself I was righteous and better than some others We are weak I didn't kill, rarely cussed and did not steal Trouble came when I knew Jesus but didn't let Him lead Stubborn was my will My way led to misery Tears and sadness my way made me feel But He is strong The day came I did realize Jesus was always there Exposing my heart, allowing me to see My lack of forgiveness, love, and pride It wasn't a pretty picture I must confide Yes Jesus Loves Me The picture of Jesus is still hanging on my wall knocking at the door of my heart asking to come in The door is opened wide, come in Lord cleanse and stay You saw all my ugliness and loved me anyway The Bible Tells Me So
