The Boogeyman
The Boogeyman Sponsor: Nayda Ivette Negron He’s a creepy and crawly shadow from the light, squeamy and haughty who awakes in the night. Screams from the child who becomes afraid, poor Andy cries out but on his bed he does stay. Then he quietly wanders to the closet in wonder, then the lightning strikes with robust thunder, For lil’ Andy can’t see through the door, but hears the boogeyman screech and roar. Stalking the boy, Andy hides under his bed, terrified that his father will wake up instead. Heeding and shaking with hands over his mouth, he listens in terror seeing footsteps arouse. Poor Andy, knew it was to be true, for earlier his father beat him black and blue. More terrified of him than the boogeyman, he hurried from under the bed and he ran. Father caught him before he could get far, in the mirror Andy saw on his face a scar. See, father was worse than shadows in the night, and his mother knew all along she was right. A strike from a belt buckle across his bottom, but a shadow flew in fast and got him. Father had vanished before Andy’s eyes, that boogeyman had been wearing a disguise. Big brother Josh had been very protective, for his brother Andy had been very neglected. See, the boogeyman wasn’t scary after all, but an angel catching him every time he did fall. No longer will that big mean man be a bother, Josh saved Andy from the wrath of his father. Date Written: May 25, 2016
