Disconnect the Connection
There was a tear in the laughter, Unwelcome and intruding, Muffled under the big booming sound, As she laughed her way through the tears. The clouds were all white, Like a bed of soft cotton in her sky, She felt she could lay up there and fall asleep. But at the fringes of it all, Hidden in plain sight was the grey, That peeped and blew icy kisses her way. Small arms inside her big ones , Little eyes that screamed I TRUST YOU, Looking up at her from way down there, Nothing could rock her boat with mama beside her, Her warrior with Samsonic strength. Joy and pain played tug of war, In her heart where her secrets lived, Her memories choked her like a vice, Till she felt her breath slip away, But those little hands kept her centered, She had survived, she was alive, And from the pain a little angel had been born. She had won, she had prevailed, The connection to her pain, The memories that tightened like a noose, Threatening her love and joy would not prevail, Forgive and forget is what she had to do, Lesson learned, it was time to forgive, to live time to disconnect the connection.
