Walking Across the Bridge of Life I Stopped To Peer Over the Edge
Walking across the bridge of life, I stopped and peered over the fence. Below was what life didn’t offer, It was black and so immense. Oblivion could answer the problems I face, All the troubles of life today, Oblivion could remove every mountainous issue, Packed up, then sent away. All it would take would be a climb and a jump, A few small steps then a slip, Then I’d be free, free as a bird, Free from this life membership. But then I recalled the people I knew, They stood by me when I was depressed. They shared their memories of happy and fun, Even though they too were distressed. Do they really need me? What would each of them think? How would each of them feel? My questions got deep, my answers- profound, My thoughts were a mental surreal. So I looked away from the fence, to the road of life, Those potholes that I had devised, I would jump them with glee, with a smile and a song, I’d simply just compromised.
