Light and Dark I
Lucifer, right hand of God, angel of light, glowing beauty, knowledge, intelligence unmatched by any level of creation. Almost perfect creature, archangel of the realm, leader over angels and man. That brief second in the first wondrous hour of creation, God’s unfathomable brilliance created His own flawless image. In His love, an act of selfless giving, God created a magnificent reflection in Lucifer. Satisfied, God invoked lesser creatures, not quite equal to this first creation. To each of these entities, God freely gave to Lucifer, power over all, the light and dark, the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars and the life that roamed this new world, and finally, the human, allowing evolution as it occurred. Lucifer filled with pride on his status found he questioned God, after all, he was God’s own reflection, all else was unnecessary. God explained His wish to share the realm of light and its potential to evolve. Lucifer inquired: “I am Your reflection, Your very light, brilliance, powerful, the knowledge of You. Why give these lesser creations ability to love and recreate themselves, to me, You give only power and light?” God knowing well what was to be, replied, “I give you all I am and ask only that you guide, protect them, keep them safe." Lucifer had no desire to subserve his powers to these lesser creations. “I am your reflection equal to You, am I not enough?” God spoke with love as a Creator to his best, most beautiful creation. “Indeed dear Lucifer, you are a magnificent, an unequivocal creation and reflection of myself, but … you are but a reflection, you are not Me.” Lucifer invoked a wild, incensed, prideful rage and cursed God. “ I will be master and creator to these below and show You Your mistake in their creation.” “You may try dear Lucifer, but it will not be here with Me.” God wept as Lucifer fell, descending to below the world he despised, the fall draining away his light, knowledge of the future, power, glory, memory of God’s love. The brilliant light faded, exploding in the universe to barely visible specks then, Lucifer burned, seething, consumed in rage. Devoid of light, yellowing orange red, a flickered scarlet ember smoldering beneath the lesser creations. He would never again, reignite the light that once was his as he whispered, “I am God, no more!” "Until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven".
