A Reason For Pockets
When it comes time to say “goodbye.” please know that I won’t be sad Because I’ll carry with me all the joyous times we’ve had. I’ll carry in my pockets all the laughter that we’ve shared, The memories of treasured times and the intricate dreams we dared. I’ll store away the sights, the smells, and richness of our sounds, The hugs and kisses we’ve exchanged and the tenderness we’ve found. I’ll hoard the smiles, the sadness, and the tribulations, too, The growing years survived by us and the troubles that ensued. We lived and learned together and lived to tell the tale With some surprising successes and a few monumental fails. I’ll carry with me your countenance, and that smile upon your face, The comfort I’ve experienced, while wrapped in your embrace. I’ll wrap those riches so carefully to prevent them from all harm, And bear them on the journey with me, so as to be my lucky charm. So, you’ll know just where to find me when your days on Earth are spent, And we share what is in our pockets to our soulful hearts’ content.
