Time Goes On
The teeth came crashing through the deck. The shark is on his way to a meal. And that meal appears to be me. I push him back with a paddle to the nose, but the boat is sinking. Drowning might be better than being eaten by a shark. We need a bigger boat…too late for that now. I can smell him and he see’s the terror in my eyes. I open my mouth to scream and swallow water. I am drowning in a sea of misery. Can no one help me? I kick and scream and scream and kick it’s no use he has me. I am going to die. And die I must. Into the belly of a carnivore… I never dreamed that was how I would die. I had visions of laying in my bed with the window open on a veranda somewhere cool and dry. I would take my time and make my way slowly towards the river. And when I was ready I would cross over to the other side. Life takes you when you least expect it. Hold on for death is always lurking around the corner. He’s in your pocket and in your hat. Never become complacent for that is his favorite time. And then time goes on without you…
