Fifteen- For Josh
I loved you You were quiet and surly But your soul was dying in the darkness And I never knew You never said a word And I was accustomed to your silence So how could I have known you wouldn't say goodbye Did you think if you were out of sight that you would be out of mind You deserved to know the truth I did not mean to hurt you I was merely a child and so were you We did not have the ability to understand foresight To accept I would wound your heart And you would scar mine All these years later I just want to ask How could you pull the trigger and leave me behind As you ran away I was left in the wake Of my words and my hate All a horrible mistake Couldn't you have given me the chance Once my feelings changed To tell you I love you And perhaps change your fate Will a day ever come Somewhere down the line When I open my heart for you And show you the damage you have done Will you have to look me in the eye And explain exactly why Your death had to be the immeasurable sorrow in my life
