She Was Semiramis, Dark Deity of Old
She Was Semiramis, Dark Deity Of Old I then saw into the tragic depths of darkness, With black crows circling about my head, There sat an old hag in her ugly starkness, Crying where have all the dying young now fled? She was the Semiramis, dark deity of old, Ancient when the Babylon Empire was the power Full of pride and in blackness she strode- Seeking blood by death in battle's goriest hour. My blooding was dripping into dark red stains, Dying calls from above rained down upon my soul, Her sneers echoes through my wave of epic pains, Such evil applauding, on my heart took its toll. And Semiramis laughed, as my pain tore in deep, Her taunts spoke of past victims dying screams, Rotting flesh consumed in their longest sleep- Eternity of anguish in their sad dying dreams. One by one the black crows flew to the south, Leaving wide open blue skies when they departed, Then I knew I would live by thirst in my mouth, And the angry look as She said half-hearted; You have a power beyond my own great evil hate- What can it be denying me my victory's reward, Some promise garnered from death's lord- Fate Or Light from He the universe most admired? I then summoned up my courage and yelled out, You, dark evil that hides in such cowardly ways, Hear me, our Lord's faithful in my happy shout, I was promised to see judgment on your last days! Now begone while I give my thanks to our master, With praise in great blessings He still bestows; Or I may pray that He punishes your evil faster, Cast you now into the pit where hellfire glows! R.J. Lindley Sept. 17th, 1987 Note: Tired today, decided to post this from my private journal. 1. SEMIRAMIS Any effort to trace the origins of the myth, legend, and lore of goddess-worship will eventually lead one back to a single historical figure---Semiramis, wife of Nimrod and queen of Babylon, and this is especially true when considering the goddess/planet Venus.
