Songs Shall Kill You
She was laughing so much Starring at my face And her soul would expand as a lake catching my fear from its end Holding my hand so tight so I can feel her love Oh, That city That house That room That ancient window Those tiny freckles on your face Which the war had copied and pasted as wounds on my memory And Those crimson lips.. How pale they became! How could I color them now, with my gray fingertips? Oh.. I beg this war to take me This solitude may not suit me And you, my darling Have changed .. Changed a lot Since our last hug Your face is no longer like a glorious morning News of death, and names of martyrs had tortured it Even your body.. It is dry, as if you are a model of sorrow Your excessive generosity Your negotiations with your wild despair, tortures me I realize that you are dressing up for death with all this sorrow But.. Don't think of me too much Don't worry about me when you reach the heaven I give myself to the ecstasy of the evening songs Believing in what your crimson lips said once: Darling, one day the songs will definitely kill you! ### Translated by: Fatima Naimi
