Etherees
How nice are Etherees. You simply add a syllable to each new line you write till you finish with line ten. . . or start with ten syllables, ending with one. Rhyme them or not, but meter gives flow, so . . . take up your pen now and GO! 12/15/15 by Andrea Dietrich for the Poetry Writing #1, sponsor, Broken Wings I choose to show an Etheree poem because it is such a fun and easy one for us to write. I even explained how to do it inside the poem itself. This 10-line form was created by American poet, Etheree Taylor Armstrong of Arkansas. It should focus on one theme and was actually created as a form that does not worry about meter or rhyme. However, I enjoy using meter to give flow and rhyme to add interest. A side note: the syllable count of the total poem adds up to 55. I was born in '55, and 5 is my lucky number and my life Path number in numerology, so that is another reason I adore this form!! I also have examples of the etheree form shown at Shadowpoetry.com along with example by Marie Summer with very clear definition of the form and its other variations.
