Intruders, Strangers and the Attic Room
Intruders, Strangers And The Attic Room Intruders in the parlour, Strangers at the door, Shut me in the attic room, It's you they're looking for. Shut me in the attic room As you did when I was young, When intruders and strangers Upon the doorbell rung. When intruders and strangers Into the parlour came You shut me in the attic room To play your dirty games. You shut me in the attic room To keep me out of the way, Those men weren't my father But they came round every day. Those men weren't my father It was you they were looking for, Intruders and strangers Came a looking for a whore. Intruders and strangers, A drunk, a soldier, a waif, You locked me in the attic room To try to keep me safe. You locked me in the attic room Thinking that it was kind, Intruders in the parlour Twisted my poor boys mind. Intruders in the parlour, Strangers at the door, I locked you in the attic room, It's me they're looking for. I locked you in the attic room Before you got too old, Intruders and strangers Will know your blood ran cold. Intruders and strangers Who never asked me why I locked you in the attic room Until the day you die. I locked you in the attic room You died there old and frail, The intruders and strangers Have locked me in this jail. The intruders and strangers That once my doorbell rang, Stand beside the attic room To watch a poor boy hang.
