Grace On the Wall
I sat with my friend, Charlie in a coffee shop Adjacent the A & C Mall Terminal Bus stop As we sat down and enjoyed our Black coffee A strange man entered in, he came for coffee He called “Two cups of coffee, one of them there on the wall.” He was served with one cup of coffee but the man paid for all When he left, the waiter posted a paper on the wall “A Cup of Coffee paid for” We finished our rich coffee, paid the bill and left thirty minutes past four After a few days, we had a chance to go to this coffee shop again A wretched man entered in, he was poor, in loneliness and in pain He looked at the wall and said, “One cup of coffee from the wall.” The man had his coffee and left without paying, we were appalled Our eyes well up in tears; it was something amazing for us to take in The waiter took off the paper from the wall and threw it in the trash bin. The waiter served coffee to this man with respect and dignity The wretched man didn’t bow his head and sulk in self-pity He entered in boldly and ordered for the coffee He wasn’t timid to ask for a free cup of coffee He only gazed at the wall, placed an order, enjoyed his coffee and left Knowing well a kind and wealthy man came in and paid all the debt
