Strangers
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star..... How I wonder what you are, Are you a stranger too I ask? Why are you hiding behind that mask? In the dark, and all alone, An emptiness I've never known A yearning deep inside of me, A bright future I cannot see I wish for someone to take my hand, And take me to another land A place of joy, free of pain Where I no longer fight in vain Twinkle Twinkle Little Star..... How I wonder what you are, How do you shine your light so bright, And stay illuminated all through the night? A stranger I am, to you I know, But I still have time to learn and grow Will you be the one to see, Past the stranger inside of me? Will you look unto my eyes, and see way past the murky skies To take my hand, and pull me close To kiss my head, and hug me the most Every friend I've ever had, Always left and made me sad They say they'll be there, when I am down Only to kick me while I'm on the ground As I stand beneath the stars, on this rainy night, I seem to search far and wide, for a time that feels right A time to ask and pray to you, Is there anything you can do? Could you send somebody down, To help through these dark ages? Or maybe you could shine your light, Upon these hopeless faces Twinkle Twinkle Little Star..... I thank you graciously for what you are I now have Hope, and Faith, and Dreams You will never again hear my pain filled screams You gave me a chance, to meet someone new, You gave me a stranger, I felt I already knew This stranger once smiled at me, The reason I cannot say, But had I not smiled back, We wouldn't be best friends today We talked and talked, till we couldn't any more We talked up until, our jaws were both so soar We've laughed and fought, and hugged and cried, We've seen each other's darkest sides This friend that I have found, hidden behind a stranger Has changed my life around, I no longer feel like a danger She is the first and last person to ever know, Just how I truly felt, not that long ago Sometimes a stranger, who goes out of their way to help, Is the one and only person, who gives a damn about your health She held me tight, and knew just what to say, So now it is my turn, To make good on my promise to stay We were both strangers once, but now we are best friends, We are both strangers even now still, but ones who will remain united until the end.
