Chasing Sharks
A voice said to me At a quarter to three While I laid there in the dark If you want to survive Plus stay alive Then learn how to chase a shark How could that be With the likes of me Who works at an amusement park For I never swam Beyond the big damn So I was afraid to embark But on the next night I flew on a kite Which carried me out to sea Right into the brine Where the sharks dine And there was no way to flee There in my pj’s And to my dismay I waited for my destiny Yet at home I awoke It was only a joke But it needed a remedy So I took out a book And by hook or crook Learned how to catch a big fiend Coz I thought anyway I’d have only one day To use the lessons I gleaned And by nighttime At the midnight chime I was in the sea as foreseen In no time at all A shark had the gall Thinking I was there to assail But I turned the table Now being able And now I was chasing its tail By learning the skill Going for the kill As I became an orca whale Now at each full moon I’m in the lagoon Awash in my undersea tale
