Why did you not take me instead, then mother would not cry, And father would not weep when he was talking of her; And God why did you make me different from other little girls, Why was I so quiet and lonely reading books and writing. I was not like other little kids, I was always thinking of things, Wanting to explore nature instead of playing with others; Refusing to eat animals and weeping because they were killed. Are you there God, can you explain life and all to this girl. I understand why you took my true love from me that day, He was always driving his car too fast, he was doomed; But God, why my babies could you have not left them here, As I stand at their grave with clenched fists, I ask you why. Are you listening to me God, can you tell me why I write, Why do I have this need and passion for words on paper; I understand that mother was sick, but father why so suddenly, Do you have a purpose for me in this life, if so what is it. Well God, I guess that's it for now, please give mother a hug, And father and all the rest I love you have taken up above; Even those pets that shattered my heart when they departed, Are you there God, why is there so much suffering in the world.
