Morning Mistress
Morning Sun, please greet my eyes and allow me to see the brink of a new day. I yearn for your light and the colors that radiate on my face, warming my soul. I smile to the vocals of the birds as they tune for their daily song. Life gives thy kiss and rest shows thy love. Another start of another day where I hope this one repeats. The hustle of the commute stimulates my senses and give lift to my feet. The rush supports my body as my mind reboots. A sequence that headlines the morning until usurped by the sweet taste and temptation of mistress Caffeine. Her embrace is addicting, but her love does not last as it is so fickle and fleeting. My drug, this unnatural yearning is both temporary salvation and shame. To lose oneself within her mug of splendor and creamer of delight. To experience dependence and self-loathing. The fight may be short and difficult, but defeat is ensured with both desire and dishonor. No matter how hard I try, I live every morning to fight and to die. Every day is the same, I awake to Ms. Caffeine. I wake up enslaved.
