That Life I Knew- Poem Using Titles
That Life I Knew *Only in a different life, I got to go *one Christmas Eve with friends round neighborhoods. How magical to stroll in falling snow well bundled as we carried warm baked goods. From house to house, we trekked, so we might bring good will and sing with gusto on that night our carols celebrating Christ, *the King. What wondrous time, when families reunite! Merry Christmas and a *Happy New Year we said in parting; then went on our way, but once at home, I joined with those most dear. “This joy is precious,” *I heard Mother say. Oh, vanished youth! My mother’s words ring true. In Heaven may that life I knew – renew! A rhyming poem in sonnet form using the titles of my first five poems posted at PoetrySoup. ONLY IN A DIFFERENT LIFE/ THIS CHRISTMAS EVE/THE KING/ HAPPY NEW YEAR/ I HEARD MOTHER (Obviously, I had to go with Christmas theme: Thanks, Pendleton!)
