Sleepless In Longbeach
His attitudes defeatist, His posture is defense; He longs to be accepted; But He stays behind a fence. He dodges speeding bullets, He often rides the blinds He hides behind simplicity; He’s afraid He’ll be unkind. He rides a painted pony, as the spinning wheel turns; Apathy is on His face; But inside Him worry churns He searches for attention, on the avenues of life; He claims He doesn’t give a damn; But His life is filled with strife. Inside Him is potential, but life’s a living hell; He’s living residential; But country suits Him well. He rocks to down beat rhythms, He plays a folk type song; He masquerades as being well; But He thinks all hope is gone. He gives attention to indemnities, that are socially required; He’ll deny all bad intentions; And announce His guns for hire. He’s a smoker that plays poker and is nice to everyone; He’s a spender, He’s a lender; That takes His chances just for fun. Do we know Him, can we show him, and is there anything to say; Can we birth it, is it worth it; Or do we send Him on His way.
