Requited
She's thirty when she learns her fate the truth about her lot in life, a truth that fills her heart with hate and cuts her like a knife His face, once pleasant to her eye his manner, once endearing his jokes, once charming, quick and dry now madden her to tearing He's bloated, lazy, impotent; not worthy of her charms and now she yearns to be content, wrapped in another's arms She finds him, twenty; oh, so willing an eager student for her hand, she's wild again, he makes it thrilling each time and touch, her flames are fanned She steals away, at first with care but nothing seems to catch his eye, he passes out there, in his chair, TV flickering a sad goodbye With one, she's but a passing dance with the other, life's passed her by, she wishes for another chance ?and prays that one might die Emboldened with each rendezvous at last her verdict's made, for sentencing, she finally knows the price that must be paid A life of lost and wasted dreams demands a fearsome price, but better paid in time, than screams and time that's taken twice She lies about her measures and her lover's eyes are blind, he's thinking just of pleasures of a purely passing kind She begs him to release himself, to scratch her deepest itch, she wants it there, inside herself to brew and then bewitch The years pass by, as pass they must she's watched him take his pride, in what she made, betrayed in trust with another's seed inside The moment comes; he's fit to burst with a conceit that's born of lies, but before he spouts, she'll tell him first her magnificent surprise
