A Plot To Sedate the Mind and Free the Heart
My mind is thinking as my heart is beating Time is ticking as my thoughts are itching Thanks to evolution I have an enormous brain Thanks to love my heart is in a lot of pain. Inside this mind, are textbooks it fed at school Memories, desperation and dreams of a fool Inside my heart, there is a gnawing rat. And there is a little man squashing it with a bat. For it hurts so much I just want to pluck it away Without it I might just have a better day. Even worse is when my heart and mind conspire Without my knowledge they communicate via wire My heart rate is raised by my desperate thoughts To return back to normal, I now need whisky shots. In the morning, the message is loud and clear. I have a big headache and my problems are still here. My mind is punishing me for tricking it with the booze Here is another trick, some painkillers to soothe. Maybe next time, I should take a heavier dosage Of illegal drugs, and such, to lock my mind in a cage. So that when I gaze at the storm, I see but only sunshine. When am hitting rock bottom am feeling just fine And for once I can score, against my mind a victory Before depression kills me and am forgotten by history. I can’t pluck out my heart, but maybe I can lose my mind It may be the only way, some peace on earth I can find. If my mind is lost my heart won’t be aware. Of heartbreaks and pains it continues to bear. But would I ever regret the drug overdose mess? Should my poor heart stop altogether in the process My mind is thinking as my heart is beating Time is ticking as my thoughts are itching
