The taxi driver’s English was from Spain, or Portugal, or Greece, a hard life
He drove me all over town, telling about his family, or his cat, or his cold.
When the fare was too high, he shrugged, and blamed the traffic, or the moon, or his wife
But when I did not tip him, he was fluent in American, and I had my fortune told.
