Those Who Watches Over Us
Those Who Watches Over Us ~ + ~ The other day we drove to our National Cemetery. As we dove through it, I saw something out of the corner of my eye, a slight movement; I did a double take to make sure of what I had seen sure enough it was really there! ~ There standing in front of each grave instead of headstone was a soldier standing in his finest dress uniform, each looking his best with their top SSgt. squaring them away like they've always had done before. From the Indian wars, to the war between the States, from the Alamo, to war in the trenches, from Wake to Normandy, from Korea to Vietnam, from Iraq to Afghanistan, and all who have given their lives for this nation. They were all there and looking so good, while kidding each other about who was looking the best; in their best dress uniforms. ~ You should have seen it; then my wife woke me up so to go home. But, I bet if you should go to there today and look just right you too can see them standing there looking so grand, instead of looking at those cold gray white stones..... ~ Steve L.
