When We Mustered Together
When We Mustered Together ~ + ~ This week we men of the First Airmobile Cavalry Division, met together not as warriors, but brotherhood-in-arms. We drawled together to heal old wounds from battles in far away lands, not just my war, but all wars and battles. ~ + ~ Wives, sons, daughters and grandsons all came with their loved ones from near and far, hand in hand to show support for their dads, brothers, husbands; and to share in a moment of time that meant so much to him and them. ~ + ~ The new young warriors of tomorrow, how sharp they look, oh look at the way they move, you can still see the 1st pride with each step forward that they have not forgotten all those who went before them in pride with each steps that they take. ~ + ~ Each of our Cavalry Divisions, while military strong, is still just as strong in tradition. Which is why you’ll still see the Cavalry Horse Platoon on display at Fort Hood and other places; because we are so proud of our history. ~ + ~ You see this patch can be seen from far away; we kind-of like it that way we want them to know that they messed with the wrong bunch of guys when we come a calling, no matter who the enemy might be. We’ll be more than ready. ~ + ~ When the First Cavalry knocks on their door, they had better be ready to fight, because we are going to take them to a dance they’ll not forget in quiet a while. We’ll uphold our traditions of the Ghost Battalion 2ndof 7th of The Long knife’s and leaving behind a patch of the First Cavalry Division by letting all know it was us, who was there in battle… Garry Owen! ~ + ~ Steve L Siegel June 24, 2015
