Time Passes On
It succeeds my intelligence Beyond my sharpest reason Surpasses common sense All logic begins seizing Minutes become hours Weeks add up to years Golden grains sour Stagnant pools of lonely tears A new mother, hands shaking Baby boy clinging to her breast Time flies, a rude awakening Hesitantly getting dressed Head to toe, in her best attire Lipstick and pearls to adorn Streams of tears, though, not much of a cryer Reminiscing the day he was born Entering the sanctuary, a bitter sweet smile Finds her seat on the first pew A strange man escorts a bride down the isle She is the first to boohoo She used to be his everything, stars and universe The only woman in his life But as time moves on, they must disperse As his bride becomes his wife Time is elusive and much too fickle To wrap her brain around Days like drips on a heated Popsicle A silent, jarring sound Before long, new becomes the norm Two trips around the sun Then the birds and bees swarm In the oven, a bun A new grandmother, steady hands Baby boy against her heart Wise to all of the infant's demands One journey ends for a new one to start 5 generations, gathered together Tucked tightly in a small room Her son squeezes her hands of leather A new life being formed in a womb Tears rolling, the family is shaken She inhales her last breath Another beginning is in the making Birth coincides with death
