Silent Eternity
I’m coughing up the words that may just give me life But choking on the blood that tries to silence right I never want to go back to the place inside But I’m still the cold-undying, and I can’t leave the night A struggle to believe that there is somewhere warm I am the unbelieving, but I still know I’m wrong Ageless and defiant, I’m always two alone I’m the survivor and the witness circling on and on I’m drowning in a heart that only wants to be I am so heartless to deceive when I will disagree The painting of a window borders all I see No existence, no more hurt, but I can see reality A struggle to become when I’m a faceless ghost I feel far too much, I’m gone but always close I fell so far to find the things that matter most But I’m endlessly undead; a body with a host Coughing up the need to say I pray for life Choking on the will of one more dead insight The poison, the prediction, then the fading light I cry for absolution but there’s none in sight Coughing up the words that may say more than me Choking on a tongue that speaks insincerity Creeping past the stare of eyes that always see I scream for an existence in silent eternity
