Think
Stop. Breath. Calm yourself. Think. Don’t think of love Don’t think of pain Don’t think of loss Don’t think of gain Don’t think of bricks that weigh you down Don’t think of chains held to the ground Don’t think of falling Don’t think of flight Just think of what makes you alright Don’t think of what you need To bring the love to you Like ordering a pizza Love, you feel As you take in this love, it goes You become full But as it’s gone, what then? It will not bring you love again. This temporary satisfaction Comes to you Cheers you Raises you Then tears you Drops you Shakes you Stomps you What love is love, that breaks you? What is love, that loves and leaves What is love, if temporary? Is it really love? Or is it a step A step to bring you along But does it lift you up? Or drop and catch you in place? Find a new love Or better yet, what’s there Joy is not what satisfies you Rather, the satisfaction itself It is not the embers, so hot It is not the warmth of Hell When you look for joy It finds you Leaves again Reminds you That it was never there It held you up, but why? A fault that you had tried Are these faults our joy? Or are we just their toy We use them up We fall We walk And then we hit a wall We stop We cry We hurt We tried For when we try these faults We think they’re there until we die But are they? What again, is love? It is not what brings you joy It is the joy, itself We love the joy We trust a love to hold us Keep us bold and strong But then we all are wrong We fall They’ve dropped us We ran But they’ve stopped us Look at what we’re chasing And look at what we love You cannot reach the top If you dive below What are you chasing? You’re chasing dust Be want a cloud You’re sitting down But we need to run You want the joy The love it brings The smile it forms The song it sings Stop. Breath. Calm yourself. Think. Are you chasing what you love? The clouds, up in the sky above? Or are you chasing what you see What you think will set you free?
