Comes Another Day
Sleep moves to a distant shore miles beyond this sullen night; Darkness grabbed the last of sun and removed it from my sight. Echoes of words long gone by now bring memories to mind, Painting pictures black and white of a life been left behind. Thunderstorms rage endlessly, marking time within the heart; Yesterday’s lost on the tide as dreams start to fall apart. Somewhere through the murky fog moves the one that some call Peace, Hand in hand she runs with Hope though the chains are not released. Further from the trodden path they carry the candle’s flame, Lighting that which can’t be seen by those cast without a name. Pages of this unread book begin drowning under mist; Patience is the virtue lost waiting for a broken tryst. Morning drifts through rolling clouds and small darts of light appear; Minstrels sing of heroes born, but in times so far from here. Tomorrow’s now moved beyond the tall mountains of today, Sleep is washed quick from the eye and a priest begins to pray. Emptiness renews itself, roosters crow the breaking dawn; Once again the tortured soul bids farewell to those now gone.
